ABOUT TERESA NEAL

AWARD WINNING SONGWRITER AMERICANA AT ITS BEST A SONGWRITER’S SONGWRITER THE REAL DEAL

How do you separate real talent from pretense? Strip away all the frills until you’re left with only a girl and a guitar – her words, her music, her style. What shines through is the real deal. Teresa swept the Austin Songwriter Awards in 2010, winning the coveted Songwriter of the Year along with a string of others awards in Americana/Folk, Blues, Singer/Songwriter and the Bare Bones categories. Since then she has gone on to win multiple songwriting awards --- 1st Place Country, 1st Place Singer/Songwriter in 2012 and was a winner in ASG’s Bluebird Café Competition. Teresa, along with co-writer Louisa Branscomb, was honored at the International Bluegrass Music Association Convention by being selected as one of ten honored songs in 2015 and 2016.

Teresa has blossomed through the years. She has put in the time, starting out in her teens when she was discovered by then National Arts and Sciences President, Bill Lowery. She has worked with and learned from some of the biggest names in the music business. Teresa has been a staff writer for four publishing companies and has worked with great producers along the way. Buddy Buie producer for the Classics IV, The Atlanta Rhythm Section, BJ Thomas & Billy Joe Royal, produced her first records. In fact, it was the Atlanta Rhythm Section who backed Teresa in the studio during those early recordings. She went on to sign with Chips Moman, producer for Elvis Presley, Erma Thomas, Roger Miller, and later on to Pete Drake, virtuoso session steel guitar player who played with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, George Jones, Tammy Wynette and countless others. He also produced Ringo Star. Her mentor, Bob Tubert, ultimately opened the door at CBS/Playboy Records, which led to her first record release, the self titled TERESA NEAL, produced by Eddie Kilroy. It was recorded on the legendary Studio B at RCA Records in Nashville. Teresa went on after that to release two independent CDs GREEN LIGHT and WHO I AM. BLUE MOON LIGHT is her 3rd independent release.. All three were co-produced with Bryan Cumming at Studio 23 in Nashville..

Teresa has worked in the studio as a guitarist, background singer and drummer for David Allen Coe, Stephen Dorff, Melba Montgomery and many others. She even played drums in a trio with Billy Cox, bassist for Jimi Hendrix at one time.

Teresa Neal is Americana at its best. Her poetic, edgy lyrics about universal issues coupled with her amazing gift for blending melodic and lyrical structure is of the rarest kind.

Please take the time to give her a listen!
